Plot[]
The Frog family is on camping trip. While the family sits around the fire eating hot dogs, When all of a sudden, Tad took a big bite of his hot dog and a big blob of ketchup fell right onto his overalls. It looked like blood. And this makes Tad fib about the blood in his overalls.
After hearing some rustling sounds, Leap jokes that it is a bear. Tad takes this opportunity to cast the shadow of his teddy bear on the tent's side, calling for help once again. Tad's Mother informs him not to call for help unless he needs it.
At the dock the next morning, Tad and Leap went fishing. Dad went swimming, Leap went fishing, and Tad sat and dangled his feet in the water, Tad shouts for help again and fibs that something got his foot and won't let go, Leap runs to pull Tad's foot of the water and tumbled right into the lake, Dad was so upset that he had to swim over to the dock and give Tad a timeout in the tent.
Later in the afternoon, Mrs. Frog asks Tad if he would like to come listen to a story, and he agrees, though he can't manage to open the tent's zipper. Calling for help results in Leap and Mr. Frog denying his claim. After noticing just how upset Tad sounds, Mrs. Frog unzips the tent, explaining that they hadn't come sooner due to his constant pretending. Tad says that he has learned his lesson, and that tents would be better with buttons.

- The image of Mrs. Frog, and the kids seen on the final page of the book was also used on the cover for The Birthday Surprise.
Errors[]
- In the inside of the back cover of the original 1999 edition, the credits were from "A Surprising Teacher" when there was supposed to be credits from this book.
