This is a list of turn-off variants for the Leapster. The turn-off action of the toy makes a different sound every time the On/Off button is pressed, just like with the LeapPad.
- When there's no cartridge inserted or a cartridge inserted but without a character (like Ni Hao Kai Lan: Beach Day), it instead turns off like a TV and the screen turns black.
- On Madagascar, Mort appears saying "Bye-bye!" to the player before the screen turns black.
- On The Backyardigans, Pablo appears saying "See ya later!" to the player before the screen turns black.
- On Dora's Piñata Party, Big Red Chicken appears clucking "Bok-BOOOOOK!" at the player before the screen turns black
- On Dora's Camping Adventure, Dora appears saying "Thanks for your help!" to the player before the screen turns black
- On SpongeBob SquarePants: Through the Wormhole, SpongeBob and Patrick appear. SpongeBob yells, "Bye!" and Patrick says "See ya!" to the player before sucking into a purple wormhole, Spongebob waves his hand and the screen turns black.
- On Cars 2, there are 4 versions of the turn off, the first one has Lightning and Mater at Luigi’s Casa Della Tires, and Lightning says “Mater, the secret agent and my best friend”, the second one has Finn McMissile saying, “Finn McMissile British Intelligence, out!” The third one has Mater says “Good-bye!" The fourth one has Mater says "You need help? Give me a call." before turning black.
- On Star Wars the Clone Wars - Jedi Math, the first one has R2-D2, the second one has the man says "Great Job, Team!" the third one has The man says "Remember, the Force will be with you… always…", and "Thanks for your Help." the fourth one has The woman says "See you later!"
- On Star Wars: Jedi Reading, the first one has C-3PO saying "Sir, if you're not be needing me, I'll close down for a while.", the second one has Darth Vader saying "We'll meet again." and the third one has an Ewok in it. The lightsaber swipes to the right-hand corner of the screen before turning black.
- On Scooby Doo! Math Times Two!, Scooby Doo appears and says his famous catchphrase to the player before the screen turns black.
- On Go, Diego, Go! Animal Rescuer, Diego and Baby Jaguar appear, Diego says “See ya soon!” and Baby Jaguar growls before the screen turns black.
- On Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Cheese licks the screen (like he did in the Cartoon Network commercial) and says “Yeah, yummy frog!” to the player before the screen turns black.
- On Tangled, There are 2 versions of the turn off, the first one has Rapunzel laughing and the second one has Flynn Rider saying “Ha ha!” before the screen turns black.
- On Ratatouille, there are 3 versions of the turn off, the first one has Gusteau saying "Remember, anyone can cook" The second one has Linguini saying "Thanks for your help little chef" The third one has Remy saying "I'm gonna be a great chef!" before the screen turns black.
- On Crayola: Art Adventure, a yellow marker says "It's great to create!", The man says "Thank you for bringing back all the colors!" And the whole marker family says "BYE-BYE!" to the player before the screen turns black.
- On Wolverine and the X-Men, Wolverine says "Not bad, kid." or "The X-Men will be waiting for you!", or "I’m the best there is in what I can do." or "Catch ya later bulb" to the player before the screen turns black.
- On Pet Pals, the narrator says “Bye-bye!” To the player before the screen turns black.
- On The Princess and the Frog, there are 2 versions of the turn off, The first one has Frog Tiana say “Why did I have to go and kiss a frog?” The second one has Frog Naveen say "Whats's a shame?" before the screen turns black.
- On Noddy: Rainbow Adventures, there are 2 versions of the turn off, the first one has Noddy saying "Bye bye!" to the player, the second one has Bumpy barking before the screen turns black.
- On Creature Create, a random creature that you created will say goodbye to the player before the screen turns black.
- On Toy Story 3, there are 2 versions of the turn off, the first one has Buzz Lightyear saying "Our missions complete!" or "This is Buzz Lightyear, signing off!", the second one has Woody saying "So long, partner!" or "Be sure to visit us again soon!" before turning black.
- On Wall-E, there are 2 versions of the turn off, the first one has Wall-E hiding like a box, the second one has Eve laughing before turning black.
- On The Penguins of Madagascar: Race for 1st Place, there are 4 versions of the turn off, the first one has King Julien saying "Let's all bounce to the full shaking Beat!", one of the penguins say " Your options include, coming back soon" "I’ll see you again" "Golly! I see ya SOON… BYE!" before the screen turns black.
- In Disney Fairies, Tinker Bell says "That was glitteriffic!", "Wow, thanks for all your help!", "Fly with you later!" or "See you next time!" before the screen turns black.
Trivia[]
- On Toy Story 3, there is some 4 variants: two Woody and two Buzz Lightyear variations (Can be seen in JWEXS).
- On Wall-E, in the SWF file will close the movie.
- On Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, when the screen is white in the first frame, instead end of turn off frame will turn into white screen (Seen in JPEXS).
- Weirdly enough, Leapster 2 still plays the original Leapster shutdown sound when quitting "Go Diego Go! Animal Rescuer".
- On both Disney Fairies and Star Wars: Jedi Reading, it doesn't play the Leapster or Leapster 2 shutdown sound.
