The Leapster Explorer is a handheld console released by Leapfrog in 2010.

Unlike the original Leapster, the Leapster Explorer has all new cartridges and can download a wide variety of apps and videos from the LeapFrog App Center. It is also compatible with Didj games.

Features[]

Every Leapster Explorer comes with Pet Pad, a virtual pet game. Your pet also appears on the Home Screen. Another new addition is Badges. You earn badges in games and your total is shown on the Home Screen. All games have a preview screen when you tap the icons. On the preview screen, the narrator talks a bit about the game, or it might just be the name of the game. This feature did not return on the LeapsterGS. Also, there is a feature that allows you to search through your apps which was another exclusive Leapster Explorer feature.

Games[]

The games will mostly come in a cardboard box that is square shaped with a tab at the top showing things like the curriculum, and age range.

The top and bottoms of the boxes don't have an obvious opening, with opening it from the usual way of the top will ruin the packaging due to it requiring tearing the packaging. Best way to open the system's boxes is by carefully separating the glue from the cardboard on either side, making sure to not tear it in the process. You could possibly try using a blow drier at the gap for attempting to reduce tears and damage of the package.

Game boxes are identical on the LeapsterGS, and LeapPad Tablets.
