Plot[]
Tad has trouble making words, and Mr. Frog has to go to work. See, wind is blowing. All the letter cards fall. A host shows up on the TV asking Tad if his dad is the best dad in the whole wide world. Tad said yes, and started creating a form to enter the contest. With help from his brother Leap and his sister Lily, they enter the Talking Words Factory, and find Professor Quigley. Mr. Websley triples his order of Talking Dictionaries and Mr. Frog had to reconvene the Zoplex levels in the basement, which leaves Quigley and the kids to get cracking.
Professor Quigley shows the Frog Kids the vowels: A, E, I, O, and U. He shows them the Sticky-Ick-O-Rama, a machine where vowels get sticky to make words. The vowels sing a song.
They meet up with Bammy (Word Bammer 100) who says she can help people who have trouble with words, like Tad. She shows him an example: C-A-T, which spells CAT.
Quigley then has an idea. He orders Bammy to make a batch of AT's and send them to Whammy (Word Whammer 3000). Whammy is a machine that does word families, like AT. They do some words of the AT family: CAT, BAT, FAT, HAT, and MAT. When Whammy spells ZAT, Quigley tells him that ZAT is definitely NOT a word. He tells him that some letters make AT words and some letters do not! And Leap says that first real words make the cut in the dictionary.
The next word family on Tad's form is ET. Whammy makes the word MET, JET, PET, GET, SET and LET.
The next word family after ET is IG. Whammy makes the word BIG and then the words get jammed into the machine. Professor Quigley shouted: “HOPPING HOMONYMS!” He gets it going and then gets pulled in and bids Leap, Lily, and Tad farewell by telling them he was just sacrificing himself to fix the machine. Leap, Tad, and Lily decide to continue on by making the word PIG.
Next, comes the OP family. Tad can make the word POP. Several words later, Leap tells his siblings that the Professor would be so proud of them. Without warning, he accidentally activates super speed. Lily tries to stop it but accidentally breaks the lever, then Tad tries to stop it by pressing multiple buttons buts Whammy starts to cranks out the words like crazy, starting with the IN family. PIN, FIN, TIN, and WIN. When the Professor finally comes back by escaping from the machine, he jumps with shock and says, "LEAPING LINGUISTICS!!" Then the words are totally random, JET, JUG, RUG, RIG, FIG, FAN, MAN. And when Professor Quigley yells "THE MACHINE HAS GONE MAD!!" the machine builds the words MAD 4× in a row. From there the machine sucks Tad in and the machine makes the word TAD. Tad flung from the machine miraculously unharmed, because some letters blocked the way into the dictionaries.
Afterward, they proceed with the UN family, by making the words FUN, RUN, BUN, and SUN.
From then on Tad notices, he has one last word for his form but it won't fit. He needs the word BEST. And from there they visit the sound slide. They send the letters S and T sliding down to form the blend ST. They take the ST to Whammy along with O and P, and they spell STOP! and all the machines in the factory come to a halt. Then, Quigley announced that was a false alarm, and all the machines started working again.
Professor Quigley tells Tad that when two consonants are stuck together, it's called a blend. It's used to either the start of a word, at the end or both. Quigley also sings a song about blends. Tad then makes the word BEST. The host of the contest arrives and tells everyone that Leap, Lily and Tad's dad won the best dad contest. When Mom and Dad arrive at the factory, they hug Tad and thank him for knowing how to make words and making dad the best dad in the whole wide world. Then, Mr. Websley barges in the factory and wonders where his big order of Talking Dictionaries is. Professor Quigley drives a forklift carrying a pile of Talking Dictionaries, but they all fall on Websley, who seems to enjoy reading. Tad then concludes the video with a song.
The scene then irises out and the credits roll.
Differences in the Leapster version[]
- The singing letters' colors are Green, Purple, Blue and Red.
- At the end of the song "Sticky, Icky Letters", the vowels come out in their original letter colors instead of all red.
- The word "MAT" isn't built.
- After all the AT words are built, only the words FAT and HAT run away before the word CAT.
- The "ET" words aren't built.
- The "UN" words aren't built.
- Guest Speaker Snake swaps to the sound slide scene.
- Mr. Websley isn't seen in the ending.
- After arising out on Tad and the title at the end, the Leapster either goes back to the main menu or automatically powers off.

- The late Joe Lala also voices the Robot who says "One monster dog with everything".
- The following letters from The Letter Factory are in a different color:
- The A letters are colored red-orange before becoming a sticky letter.
- The F and K letters are both colored orchid pink (just like the O letters before becoming sticky).
- The K letters are colored pink and this can be seen when Professor Quigley says "LEAPING LINGUISTICS!!", and if you look close, you can see the word "kit"
- The G letters are colored indigo (just like the S letters), and now have green eyes.
- The N letters are colored magenta (just like the J letters).

- As proven by the 2003 trailer and scene selection on the DVD, the vowels were intended to keep their original colors from The Letter Factory, before being changed to red, possibly to make them stand out from the consonants.
- In the Leapster game, words with the “AY” ending can be spelled out, despite the concept of two-vowel endings not being discussed until Talking Words Factory 2: Code Word Caper.
- This film has one of the letters that don't appear was: "Q".
Goofs[]
- Some descriptions of the movie, such as the one used on the Google Play store, misspells rhyming as "ryhming".
- In the opening title card, the blue W, the purple N, and the red O don’t have any faces, and the green T has lost a pair of eyes.
3 Faceless letters, and a T with no eyes…
- The letter P is shown to be colored green and the word "pet" with the P in front of it is colored green, but when the kids spell the word "pig", "pop", and "pin", the letter P is very-light yellow and yet, the words "pig", "pop", and "pin" turns green.
- When Professor Quigley and the kids are making the word "STOP", the P they were using is back to green before being combined with S, T, and O.
- After Professor Quigley rearranged the words on the conveyor belt, the word "pet" briefly turns yellow-green then back to green.
- When Professor Quigley says "My dad is a cool blank" and points his finger at Tads paper, his hand is tan, but when the scene switches over to Tad, Quigleys hand turns green.
- The letter G is shown to be colored indigo, later when Tad spelled the word "glad", the letter G is blue like the letter C.
- When the kids are standing next to the giant hand near Whammy, they swap to standing next to the giant hand near the transport pipe.
- This also happens the other way around.
- During the Sticky, Icky Letters song, the letter A is shown to be red-orange, but briefly turns red before being covered in honey, but goes back to red-orange after passing the honey waterfall.
- When Tad asks Professor Quigley to help him find the right words are the Best Dad Contest, the form already has the words before Quigley reads the first sentence.
